Performance Data

EYFS
All children entering Reception will be assessed using the activity based government Baseline Assessment in the areas of Literacy, Communication & Language and Mathematics, within their first six weeks of starting school.

As Reception is the end of the EYFS phase, the children's progress and development will be assessed against the end of phase Early Learning Goals using evidence collected through the year. This information is then shared with parents / carers and also with Year 1 staff to ensure a smoother transition and will be used to inform suitable provision and curriculum planning for their start to Year 1.

Key Stage 1
By the end of Key Stage 1, during the summer term, children in Year 2 will be assessed by class teachers in the following areas: English reading, English grammar, punctuation and Spelling and speaking and listening; Mathematics; and Science. These teacher assessments, informed by a range of standardised tasks and tests, are then given to parents together with their child's end of year report.

All children in Year 1 must also take the phonics screening check, which is designed to confirm whether children have learnt phonic decoding to an appropriate standard. It will identify the children who need extra help to improve their decoding skills. Children in Year 2 must retake the check if they did not meet the required standard in Year 1. However, it is possible to withdraw children from the check if the Headteacher feels it is appropriate to do so.

Key Stage 2
All schools are required to administer the following End of Key Stage tests, in Year 6 (commonly referred to as SATs): English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling, Mathematics.

The SATs have to be marked externally, and the results of the test will be made available to parents once they have been released to the school. Pupils are also given a teacher assessed level in English writing, based on classwork completed throughout the year.
