The Sacraments

Whilst at St Wilfrid’s School, children who are baptised Catholics receive three sacraments. Children who are in Year 3 receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Children in Year 6 receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  At St Wilfrid’s, we use the ‘Learning and Growing as the People of God’ programme throughout the school. Therefore the Sacraments are a ‘Journey in Faith’ which starts in EYFS. Working in partnership with families and the parish, we hold regular parent meetings about Sacramental preparation in years 3 and 6, and the candidates lead a Presentation Mass during which they are presented to the Parish and a ‘Going Forth Mass’, during which the children promise their intention to take their faith out into the world. The Parish are asked to pray for our candidates and are welcomed to come along and celebrate with us. Dates and times of these masses and meetings are available from the school.
