The Year of The Word

The Catholic Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales have dedicated 2020 as ‘The Year of the Word’. For us, this will begin at the start of Advent (Sunday 1st December) and will run until the end of 2020.

During the Year of the Word, we will be taking closer notice of what is written in the scriptures, sharing this in school and sharing it with you.

Each term, each year group will choose a short extract from the Bible that they have learned about in their studies, so far, that they think is important to share. We will share these in the newsletter , and here, on the website, each week, so keep an out for what your child’s class have to tell you!

The Year of the Word continues this half term. At the beginning of the term, Mr Baker spoke to the children about the words in the Gospel of Luke – ‘Here is the light you will reveal to the nations’ (Lk 2:32) and asked them how they could shine the light of Jesus. Each week, we will continue to tell you the words from the Bible that each class wishes to share.
